Adults Living with Anxiety

Navigating Anxiety: Your Path to Understanding, Support, and Healing

Anxiety doesn’t wear a name tag. It walks quietly into our lives—sometimes fast, sometimes slow—and

leaves us questioning ourselves, our safety, and our sense of calm. Maybe you’ve lived with it for years,

or maybe it snuck up on you during a hard season. Either way, it’s exhausting. 😞

And here’s the truth: You don’t have to carry it alone.

At The Lorelei Molinari Home of Mental Health Info & Support Groups, we create compassionate,

judgment-free spaces for women (and a few brave men) who feel stretched too thin by worry, fear, or

the what-ifs that won’t stop spinning. If that’s you—welcome. You’re already taking your first brave

step just by being here. 💗

What is Anxiety, Really?

Anxiety is not just stress with better PR. It’s persistent, uninvited, and affects how we think, feel, and

function. It shows up as fear—even when there’s no visible threat. 😰

AIt might be Generalized Anxiety Disorder, panic disorder, health anxiety, or that hard-to-name hum of

dread in the background of your life.

AIt might be Generalized Anxiety Disorder, panic disorder, health anxiety, or that hard-to-name hum of

dread in the background of your life.

And no, you’re not “just being dramatic.” You’re not weak. You’re not broken. You’re navigating a

legitimate mental health condition that affects over 30% of adults at some point. That’s a third of us—

and counting. 🧠

What Anxiety Feels Like

Let’s be plain. Anxiety doesn’t always look like someone gasping into a paper bag. Sometimes it looks

like:

  • Saying “yes” when your gut screams “no.”

  • Overthinking one email for three hours.

  • Avoiding rest because it feels unsafe to stop.

  • Googling symptoms at 2AM with a pounding heart. 🕓

Physical symptoms: Racing heart, tight chest, insomnia, fatigue, stomach upset, tension.

Mental symptoms: Worry loops, overthinking, blanking out, panic spirals.

Behavioral symptoms: Avoidance, people-pleasing, perfectionism, over-functioning.

If any of this rings true—you’re not alone. And more importantly, you’re not stuck. ❤️

Where Does It Come From?

Anxiety doesn’t grow out of nowhere. There are usually roots:

🌱 Genetics – Yep, it can run in families.

🌱 Life experiences – Trauma, betrayal, grief, or nonstop stress.

🌱 Personality – If you're highly sensitive, intuitive, or a deep thinker—you may feel more deeply.

🌱 Brain chemistry – Serotonin, dopamine, GABA... our internal messengers play a role too.

Understanding the why won’t fix everything—but it gives you something solid to stand on. That clarity helps you respond with compassion instead of shame. 💡

Supporting Someone with Anxiety

🛠️ Simple Coping Tools

You don’t need a psychology degree to help someone you love. You just need patience, presence, and

a soft place for them to land.

💬 Ask what they need—not what you think they need.

🎉 Celebrate the tiniest wins.

🕊️ Let them set the pace.

❤️ Remind them they’re not a burden.

Sometimes, “I believe in you” is more powerful than a thousand solutions.

Why Early Support Matters

Anxiety has a way of taking up space if left unchecked. Early support doesn’t mean you’re weak—it

means you’re wise. 🧘‍♀️

Learning to manage anxiety early helps prevent burnout, deepens emotional resilience, and makes

room for more peace, clarity, and joy. And yes, those are possible. ✨

Let’s Talk About the Stigma

Mental health stigma tells people to “suck it up” or “just calm down.”

Not here. Not in this space. Not on our watch. 🚫

You are not your symptoms. You are not a diagnosis.

You are a whole human being—brilliant, brave, and worthy of peace.

At The Lorelei Molinari Project, we are dismantling stigma one open conversation at a time. You belong

here, exactly as you are. 🙌

You Deserve to Feel Safe in Your Own Mind

You don’t need to be fearless to move forward.

You don’t need to be “healed” to feel better.

And you definitely don’t have to do it alone. 💛

We’re here—arms open, hearts ready, ears listening.
